Silver Climbs Toward $58 as Cooling Oil Prices Improve Precious Metals Sentiment

Silver prices moved sharply higher on Tuesday, recovering toward $58 after the recent rally in crude oil temporarily lost momentum. BCR Limited studies the latest developments affecting precious metals, as improving diplomatic expectations between the United States and Iran helped reduce inflation concerns and encouraged investors to return cautiously to non-yielding assets.

The recovery comes after several weeks of volatility driven by geopolitical tensions and rising energy prices, with traders now shifting their attention toward central bank policy and broader macroeconomic conditions that could determine the next direction for precious metals.

Oil Pullback Supports Silver Recovery

Silver gained more than 3% during the European session as crude oil prices eased following hopes that diplomatic negotiations could reduce tensions between the United States and Iran.

WTI crude slipped back toward $81.90 after reaching a fresh monthly high near $84.42 the previous day. The temporary pause in oil’s rally eased concerns that persistent energy inflation would force central banks to maintain tighter monetary policies for longer.

Because silver does not generate interest income, higher interest rate expectations generally reduce its attractiveness. As inflation concerns moderated alongside lower oil prices, investors returned to precious metals, helping silver recover from recent weakness.

While geopolitical developments remain the immediate catalyst, investors are also watching broader macroeconomic conditions. Precious metals often react not only to changes in inflation expectations but also to movements in real yields and the US Dollar.

If inflation pressures continue to moderate without a significant deterioration in economic activity, silver could benefit from a more balanced risk environment over the coming weeks.

Diplomatic Hopes Ease Market Tensions

Investor confidence improved after reports that Iran had received a proposal through international mediators for a 10-day suspension of military strikes with the United States.

Although no agreement has yet been reached, the possibility of renewed negotiations reduced immediate fears surrounding energy supply disruptions. Financial markets responded positively as traders reassessed the likelihood of a prolonged escalation in the Middle East.

Even so, market participants remain cautious, recognising that geopolitical negotiations can change rapidly and continue generating significant volatility across commodity and currency markets.

Federal Reserve Remains the Next Major Catalyst

Attention is now shifting toward next week’s Federal Reserve policy meeting.

Markets widely expect US policymakers to leave interest rates unchanged, placing greater emphasis on future guidance regarding inflation and monetary policy. Any indication that officials remain concerned about inflation could strengthen the US Dollar and limit further upside for precious metals.

Conversely, a more balanced policy outlook could continue supporting demand for assets such as silver and gold if real interest rate expectations remain contained.

Markets will also analyse policymakers’ economic projections and comments regarding inflation persistence. Even if interest rates remain unchanged, subtle shifts in the Federal Reserve’s language could influence Treasury yields, currency markets, and investor appetite for precious metals throughout the second half of the year.

Technical Outlook Remains Cautious

Despite Tuesday’s rebound, silver continues to face important technical resistance.

The metal remains below its 20-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) near $59.65, suggesting that the broader short-term trend still favours sellers. Meanwhile, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has recovered to around 41.94, indicating that bearish momentum has eased without yet confirming a stronger bullish reversal.

Initial resistance remains around the 20-day EMA at $59.65, while a sustained move above this level would improve the technical outlook and increase the probability of a broader recovery. On the downside, the July 17 low near $54.77 remains the key support level that traders are closely monitoring.

Although buying momentum has improved, the current rebound still appears corrective rather than the start of a confirmed bullish trend. A decisive break above the 20-day EMA would strengthen confidence among buyers, while renewed weakness could quickly shift attention back toward the established support area.

Trading volumes and broader investor sentiment will remain important factors to monitor. Sustained buying interest above current levels would improve confidence that silver is building a stronger base, while fading momentum could leave prices vulnerable to renewed selling if macroeconomic conditions become less supportive.

Conclusion

Silver has benefited from easing oil prices and renewed hopes for diplomatic progress in the Middle East, allowing investors to return cautiously to precious metals. However, technical resistance remains intact and the Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy decision could become the next major catalyst for price direction.

As geopolitical developments and inflation expectations continue evolving, silver is likely to remain sensitive to both macroeconomic news and shifts in broader market sentiment.
